Reconciliation

Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven. If you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”
                                                                                          John 20:21-23

In the Sacrament of Reconciliation, a penitent confesses sins to a priest, and it is God, through the priest, who forgives the sins. This sacrament brings a wonderful sense of freedom, peace, and gratitude for God’s mercy.

Reconciliation is available at the Cathedral Monday to Friday from 11:00 am to 12 noon in the St Peter Chanel Chapel (except on public holidays).

For Children

Diocesan policy requires children to receive Reconciliation before Confirmation or First Communion. Parents must enrol their child in the Sacramental Programme for Children. The sacrament is usually celebrated toward the end of the year in Advent.

Contact Brenisa Gowray at [email protected] in the parish office for further information.

For Adults

Receiving this sacrament is part of the OCIA journey.
