Becoming a Catholic
Joining the Catholic faith is a journey of discovery and formation. While it is a weighty decision, is easy in practice.
For Adults: OCIA
The programme of adult formation in the faith is known as the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA). It is a wonderful series of steps and stages that can lead to baptism, confirmation and Eucharist (Communion).
Usually adult baptisms (or ‘Reception’ if you already have received a Christian baptism) take place at the great Easter Vigil Mass on Saturday evening.
It is a wonderful and moving ceremony that coincides with the first Mass of the Resurrection. You can join the OCIA at any time. There is a course currently underway ~ all enquirers are welcome; there will be no pressure to sign up. We take you as you are and go at your pace!
If you have any questions about the OCIA programme, you are most welcome to contact Brenisa Gowray at [email protected] for further information.
For Children (Ages 8–12): OCIC
The programme of children’s formation in the faith is known as the Rite of Christian Initiation of Children (RCIC). It is a wonderful series of steps and stages for children aged eight – twelve years old, that can lead to Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist (Communion).
Usually children baptisms (or ‘Reception’ if you already have received a Christian baptism) take place at the great Easter Vigil Mass on Saturday evening. Children can then continue in the following year to join the Children’s Sacramental Programme to complete their Sacraments of Initiation (Confirmation and First Holy Eucharist).
All enquiries are welcome. We take you as you are and go at your pace!
